System Description

ICF Flat Wall System

 

This system consists of two high-density expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam panels, kept together by plastic webs or connectors, that form a permanent formwork for the concrete poured inside. Steel rebar is placed inside the ICF block for structural reinforcement, the rebar configuration is calculated specifically to each project by a Structural Engineer.  Once hardened, the concrete forms a continuous and monolithic core, providing an exceptionally strong and durable structure.The ICF Flat Wall stands out for its ability to offer a high level of thermal and acoustic insulation, resulting in greater energy efficiency and comfort within the building. Additionally, its resistance to natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes, its fire resistance, and its durability make this ICF system an ideal option for both residential and commercial projects, guaranteeing a robust, safe, and sustainable construction.

 

  • Panels: Two parallel foam panels, made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) held together by polypropylene connectors. These panels act as permanent formwork for the concrete and provide thermal insulation.

  • Concrete Core: The space between the foam panels is filled with poured concrete, creating a monolithic and solid concrete wall once the concrete has hardened. The thickness of the concrete core can vary depending on the structural requirements.

  • Reinforcement: Steel rebar is placed inside the concrete core before pouring to provide greater strength and stability as indicated by the project's structural calculations. This reinforcement helps distribute loads and resist tensile forces.

  • Insulation | Thermal Performance: The continuous foam insulation on both sides of the concrete core offers excellent thermal resistance, minimizing heat transfer through the walls and improving the building's energy efficiency.

  • Acoustic Insulation: The combination of dense concrete and insulating foam at a density of 1.81409 lb/ft3 provides superior acoustic insulation, making our ICF Flat Wall blocks ideal for buildings in noisy environments.

  • Durability: The solid concrete core is highly durable, resistant to decay, pests, and fire, ensuring a long-lasting structure with minimal maintenance requirements.
